Abstract:

This survey- correlational research aimed to determine the effectiveness of school management in the Division of Iloilo City as related to the administrators' leadership behavior, teachers morale, and certain identified administrator- and teacher- related factors. The participants of the study were the 52 randomly selected school principals and 311 public elementary school teachers in the Division of Iloilo City. The study used the Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire, the Purdue Teacher Opinionaire and the School Effectiveness Survey Questionnaire. Mean, percentage and standard deviation were used for descriptive analysis. For inferential statistics, the t-test for independent samples, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's r, and eta correlation were utilized. The .05 alpha level was used as the criterion for the acceptance or rejection of the null hypothesis. All statistical computations were availed through the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Study results revealed that no significant differences existed in the administrators' leadership behavior when they were classified according to educational qualification, administrative experience, teaching experience, and rank. No significant differences existed in the degree of teachers morale when they were classified according to educational qualification, teaching experience, and rank. Moreover, no significant differences existed in the administrators' level of effectiveness of school management when they were classified according to educational qualification, administrative experience teaching experience, and rank. Likewise, no significant differences existed in the level of school management of the administrators classified according to educational qualification, teaching experience, and rank. Negative and no significant rlationship existed between the teachers' morale and administrators school management effectiveness. However, positive and not significant relationship existed between the teachers' morale and their school management effectiveness. Similarly, positive and not significant relationship happened between the administrator's and teacher's school management effectiveness. A positive and not significant relationship occured between administrators' leadership behavior and school management effectiveness. Finally, positive and not significant relationship noted between administrators' leadership behavior and teachers' morale.
