Abstract:

The present descriptive research study conducted on November 2009, looked into the cardiovascular endurance as influenced by the dietary habits of the women varsity athletes during the academic year 2009-2010. The participants were taken as an entire group and were classified according to waist-hip ratio (WHR). This descriptive research utilized two instruments: The Fitness for Life Dietary Habits Quiz retrieved from (http://www.doithome.com/food_search.asp., 2007) for dietary habits and the Three-Minute Step Test (Hahn & Payne, 2001) for cardiovascular endurance. Mean and standard deviation were used as descriptive statistics, while the t-test and Spearman Rho were employed as inferential statistics. The level of significance was set at .05 alpha. The study found out that as an entire group, the women varsity athletes had “fair” dietary habits in terms of carbohydrate intake and protein intake but “poor” in terms of fats. The athletes with “good” WHR had likewise “fair” dietary habit
