Abstract:

This action research was conducted to determine some possible solutions to the perennial problem on tardiness of the elementary students in Saint Mary's Academy of Capiz, Roxas City. The study was conducted for a period of six weeks starting from August 4 to September 19, 2003. The subjects of this study were 60 habitual latecomers of the Elementary Department. Out of 468 total population, 60 were noted as habitual tardy students. Only 3 or 5% among them are from out of town and the rest are from the city of Roxas. From among them, 75% had their own rides and are conducted and fetched by their parents in going to school and in coming home. The researchers made use of different data gathering instruments. An interview was conducted to gather some data. Records of the students were asked from the registrar and the prefect of discipline in order to secure relevant information about the subjects. The result of the study showed that separate prayer exercises and giving of quiz during the first period had reduced the cases of tardiness among the elementary students of Saint Mary's Academy of Capiz.
