Abstract:

This study was conducted to determine the effect of Dalupang flower and leaf tisane on teh blood glucose levels of white mice. Experimental animals were acclimatized and forced fed with 20% glucose solution to induced high sugar level on white mice. Fresh flower leaf of Dalupang (Abermoschus moschatus,) were sun dried and prepared as tisane. The blood glucose levels were monitored at 15, 30, 60 minutes after introduction of treatments. Results revealed that there is a significant difference in the blood glucose levels at 60 minutes. However, the blood glucose levels in 15 and 30 minutes did not vary significantly. The post H C analysis showed that the effect of Dalupang flower and leaf tisane did not vary significantly with that of metformin, thereby implying that it has potential hypoglycemic effects.
