Abstract:

This study was conducted to determine the morphological and histological effects of water hyacinth crude protein extract enriched pellets on the liver of white mice. 27 white mice were divided into 3 treatments: control ( treatment A), 50% water hyacinth crude protein extracts enriched pellets and 50% commercial pellets ( treatment B) and 100% water hyacinth crude protein extract enrich pellets (treatment C). After 30 days of feeding, the white mice livers were harvested and were morphologically and histologically assessed. A phatologist rated the liver sections based on the scale of the different liver parameters. The findings of the study showed that there was a significant difference in color but there were no significant differences in weight, steatosis, lobular inflammation and hepatocyte ballooning.
