This study aimed to determine the population ount of heterotrophic and coliform bacteria present in water samples from a well in Sitio Bongga, Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. Three trials with three replicates were conducted from August to September, 2014. Serial dilution and spread plate techniques were used in assessing the coliform bacteria and total heterotrohpic count. Quebec conter and hand tally was used for heterotrohpic bacteria and coliform count. Results showed that water samples from the well in Sitio Bongga, Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras were positive for heterotrophic bacteria and coliform. The average heterotrophic bacterial count and coliform count did not not passed the standards for spread plate mehtod, thereby implying that the water source should have a good maintenance of the treatment and distribution systems and is not safe for human consumption.
