Abstract:

This descriptive research conducted to determine the perceptions of primary grade teachers' handling gifted pupils on the MTB-MLE's challenges taken as a whole and when categorized according to age, grade level taught, and educational attainment. The respondents of this study were the primary grade teachers in the special science classes of the public elementary schools in the province of Iloilo. The researhcers used the Likert's four-point scale to measure the results based on the responses of the respondents from the given questionnaire.The SPSS was used to process and analyze the data. Mann-WHitney and Kruskal Wallis Tests for inferential analysis was used to determint the difference in teachers perception to each variables. Findings showed that the perceptions of the primary grade teachers handling gifted pupils on the MTB-MLE's challenges as taken as whole group and when as categorized according to age, grade level taught and educational attainment are that their primary concern was not to fail their students using the mother tongue, teaching mother tongue would not be easy if they had limited materials., and the teaching methods presently used in mother tongue subject are not new, they are similar old approaches used by their teachers when they were students. The results of the study supported the null hypothesis that there was no significant difference in the perceptions concerning the challenges that teachers meet using MTB-MLE's when classified according to age, grade level taught and educational attainment.
