This descriptive study aimed to find out the awareness level of regular classroom teachers regarding the characteristics and accommodation of instructional strategies for children with hearing impairment. The respondents of this study were the twenty seven (27) randomly selected regular classroom teachers teaching Grade 1 to 6 in a public elementary school of Iloilo province, School Year 2015-2016. The data were gathered using a duly validated researcher-made instrument. The statistical tests used were mean and standard deviation for descriptive analysis and the Chi-square for the inferential analysis. Results showed that when taken as an entire group and grouped according to age, no. of years in service and educational attainment, the regular classroom teachers were very aware regarding the characteristics of children with hearing impairment as well as accommodation for instructional strategies: There is significant a difference in the awareness level of regular classroom teachers when grouped according to their educational attainment, and there is a significant difference in the accommodation of instructional strategies when grouped according to age. Based on these results, the recommended: children with hearing impairment may choose to be in Leganes Central Elementary School which provides appropriate accommodation for them. Regular classroom teachers may attend seminars to increase their level of awareness regarding children with hearing impairment. School may encourage regular classroom teachers to take a Master’s degree. Parents may enroll their children in Leganes Central Elementary School or other schools which advocates proper accommodation for these children. The Department of Education may offer more seminars to regular classroom teachers so that their and background regarding the awareness and accommodation for children with hearing impairment may be widened.
