Abstract:

The study aimed at determining the relationship of class size and school location on students’ academic performance in science. Specifically, it intended to find the level of academic performance and significant difference in the academic performance of students in science when grouped according to class size and school location. The study used descriptive research design. A researcher-made science questionnaire was administered to 323 purposively selected grade 10, regular class, section 1 students of three city schools, three town schools, and three barangay schools. Their test scores were gathered and tallied. Mean and standard deviation were used as descriptive data analysis. Kruskall-Wallis Test was used as inferential statistics to ascertain if there is significant relationship between class size and school location on students’ academic performance in science. The 0.05 level of significance was used. When taken as a whole, the result showed that the academic performance of students in science was “satisfactory” (M = 18.49). The study also revealed that there is significant difference on the academic performance of students in science when grouped according to class size and school location.
